Not to be coy, what is my own position? Well, in my head whenever I hear or read #MedicallyAssistedDying , I replace the term with #DoctorsKillingPatients.

Of course the Canadian #Constitution doesn't say that there is or isn't such a right, so the decision of the Supreme Court in 1993 to uphold the law at the time was correct. Any change in the law regarding #MedicallyAssistedDying
ought to come from the legislature, not the courts.

I really don't know #AndrewCoyne's personal view on #MedicallyAssistedDying, but I'm grateful to him for drawing our attention to the evolution of this matter. (If only it weren't behind the #GlobeAndMail paywall...)

As he says, the root issue is whether or not you believe a person has an absolute right to autonomy over her own life.
