I really love how this turned out. if I decide I have energy to sell my jewellery, I'll make at least one variation of this to sell.
Cranberry goldluster 11/0s, siam 3mm bicones (crystals), the little thing on the inside is called a "dragon scale" bead, with a rainbow/copper finish, and the long purple-y beads are called "dagger beads".
This fits like a choker with the dagger beads spreading out like a collar, and uses St Petersburg stitch. #MelindreaMakes #mastoart #beadweaving #jewelry

I have decided. I'm going to make several beaded rings to help my finger joints to not do "unhealthy finger joint stuff". Not sure I'll be getting one for each finger, but here's my first, a pinkie ring.
Yes, it is *really* hard to take a photo of a ring you're currently wearing >.>
This is a natural cabochon stone, with 11/0 and 15/0 seed beads to bezel it and create the band. #beadweaving #jewelry #MelindreaMakes

Needed to order a bit more beads for my beadwork, so now, here we are again ... #MelindreaMakes
Finished my second piece of beadwork jewellery. This uses superduos (a type of two-hole bead) and seed beads, working it into the herringbone stitch, with a peyote toggle bar to keep it in place.
I'd originally hoped the central stripe would be more turquoise, but I like the mottled effect of it in the end. It looks great together! #MelindreaMakes #BeadWeaving
I am feeling over the moon! So, the other day I finished my first beadweaving project. Due to miscalculating I had to improvise, but in the end I was quite pleased with the result. And, as I said ... My *very first* project.
I just had someone ask me if it was my own design or if I used a pattern, because they'd like to do one like it! #MelindreaMakes
Finished it, and am really pleased. Used a 2 stitch herringbone rope to extend it and while it's perhaps not the longest thing ever (I ran out of beads ...) it fits over both my and my spouse's head, so should hopefully be long enough. And it shimmers sooo nicely!
So, small/central part is a spiral rope with a clear/red bead as the focus of the loops (the rest are 11/0 TOHO beads), spiralling around that beautiful rosy-brown spine. The rest of the chain uses the rosy-brown 8/0s #MelindreaMakes
My first attempt at #BeadWeaving and while it's a lot shorter than I foolishly expected it'd be (I'd probably need at least 4-5x the amount of focal beads compared to what I had ...) I really like how it came out.
Spiral rope using a tutorial by Jill Wiseman on u-tube, from 8/0 miyuki seed beads, 11/0 toho beads and some kind of clear/red crystal I got from somewhere
I did my "every few weeks going out and Doing Stuff" today, so of course I'm in pain.
But! I got some fun stuff at the thrift store.
The background is an old women's magazine that I got for the pages/pictures. I've no clue what those silver heart thingies are, but they'll look good as part of a book dangly. And the necklace will be nice to harvest for book jewellery (one of the charms open but not sure if I can put pictures in it). And finally, that's little over half a meter of crocheted lace tape, so I'll be figuring out that pattern too. It's so pretty!
Content note: photo with strong eye contact.
My shawl is done! It's a nice wrap-around shawl (known as a bosom buddy or other things--if you've seen Outlander there's apparently a few of this style there).
It used little less than 300g heavy lace weight yarn, a tweed yarn that's lamb's wool/silk. Two shades of blue (accidentally) and one shade of green for complement/contrast.
From tip to tip it's 275cm, from top to bottom 105cm.
I'm getting there @fibrearts !
I'm working on a "bosom buddy" (the type of shawl that's supposed to be wrapped around you and tied in the back). 57 rows (+2 for edge). 564 dc in the final row. A total of 1118 (ish--I think I missed 6 in total, 4/2 per side, so i guess technically 1112) dc.
Now I'm working a shell stitch border with each shell being (3dc, ch-2, 3dc) into every other ch-4 space (the *other* other space has a dc to anchor it). Around the entire shawl. #MelindreaMakes #InPain
In my hunt for the perfect lace yarn to replace my beloved Drops Lace (an alpaca/silk blend) the time has come for Soft Alpaca Lace from #Hobbii!
This is the first of two lace cuffs (using a pattern from ravelry but extending the cuff part) and while it doesn't have *quite* the sheen or strength that a touch of silk would add, it is light, warm and beautiful. This uses a 3.5mm hook, except the foundation chain where I used a 4.5mm @fibrearts #MelindreaMakes #MastoArt

Mrf. Finished row 20 out of 34 on the second front piece. And then sleeves.
I'm currently wondering why I decided to make a cardigan ... as well why I joined a cardigan make-along that starts in a couple of weeks >.<
But. It's going to look amazing once it's done. It's kind of a blanket cardigan, black with texture, and small bits of colours sheening here and there .. #MelindreaMakes @crochet
I got a nice little haul at a thriftshop today!
The cream lace fabric is an old lace curtain (probably polyester, it is certainly not handmade), and I also got a copy of Dickens' The Pickwick Papers. In Swedish. the 4th volume. (no, I don't feel bad over using it for crafting!)
one bit of curiosa is that the ribbon bookmark has fallen off at some point, but it was still in the book ... with the bit visible entirely sun-bleached. #MastoArt #MelindreaMakes #Haul

@fiberarts Oh, I meant to share it on here too!
this is the WIP of my lace ribbon, using a 1.5mm hook (I've seen sewing needles that are thicker <.<) and lace weight mercerized cotton.
It's from this youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0O8Jd9wq8u4 #MelindreaMakes
I mean, my site is now updated with the new year.
That's *like* progress?
though to be fair--part of the issue is that I built a #StaticSite using nodeJS on my old macbook. That macbook no longer charges, so I had to replace it, and whether I was wanting to or not, the best option was a windows machine.
I had the source code, obviously, but I needed to set some stuff up, and there were some errors, etc.
Today I decided to finally get around to it. 1/?

I am amused with this bit. Context: Ingemund is the 16-year-old groom who rode ahead to meet up with his fiancée the day before the marriage. The "she" mentioned is Iselin, our PoV's grandmother and Wise Woman of the village.
“Your parents are waiting for you.” She told Ingemund before playfully mussing his loose, black hair. He started to object to the treatment but closed his mouth as she cocked an eyebrow. “If you wish to tell me that you are an adult and should be treated as such, I shall need to remind you that you left Tyrgil Svarte and Jorid before sunrise, without a word on where you were going.”

Why is it so hard to just ... *write*? I kind of have half a dozen scenes I want to write in this story, but every time I ... don't want to.
I think I'm stuck--anyone want to tell me to do some writing, and in return you can get some tidbits from #IronAgeApocalypse #MelindreaMakes

Here's my latest #paracord project. Molten Orange and copper red over a golden copper core #MelindreaMakes
So, for my fellow #queer (in particular #trans) folks, I need help figuring out a colour combination.
I'll be making a trans flag bracelet in pink, light blue and white. The pattern will be a variant of the "stitched solomon's dragon" (examples taken from ParacordOn ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eU0zO6XMu5o ) and Weavers of Eternity Paracord ( https://www.youtube.com/@TheWeaversofEternity ) on Youtube, to give an idea on the pattern I'm adding the colours to).
So, a few things I have decided:
1) The scales/gems/things-peeking-up (red+black and orange respectively in the screenshots) will be a vintage pink
2) The stitching (white in the screenshot that has it, wrapping around the scales) will be blue on one side and white on the other
3) The edge (light blue in the screenshot that has two different colours) will be a white + blue pattern
My question is what I want to do with the base colour (black in the one with two different colours). I think I want to have a darker colour, since it needs pink, white and blue to pop against it but ... what works well for the trans flag? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transgender_flag#/media/File:Transgender_Pride_flag.svg #MelindreaMakes @fibrearts
After making an entirely old-pink bracelet I decided it was a bit too pink, so wanted to add some stitching.
This is two passes of what's pretty much the stem stitch: over two bars, back one, over two, etc, with one line on either side @fibrearts #Paracord #MelindreaMakes
