Frederik is als kind al begeesterd door het bespelen van een gitaar en in 1985 op zijn 15de richt hij zijn eerste band op in Umeå, #Metallien. Een band zwaar beïnvloed door de sounds van de vroege #Metallica.
Later zal de band haar naam gewijzigd worden in #Meshuggah, startend als trashmetalband maar onder impuls van Frederik meer neigend naar progressieve metal en het genre #Djent waar ze als band binnen de metal het meest

But will someone please explain to me why I get all choked up and teary-eyed when listening to #Meshuggah? Something about the interweaving rhythms moving in sync together and the nothing-held-back, guts-on-the-pavement vocals ... It’s honestly deeply moving to me every time.
