Just realised #Metatext app hasn’t been updated in 9 months. What app are people using? I didn’t like the official #Mastodon one so something similar to Metatext would be good.

Can someone recommend an iPhone #app for Mastodon? I’ve been using #Metatext but from a while ago, I find that I cannot see media content, boost or star posts from people from other instances. My community is spread among many instances, so this really limits the utility of #Mastodon for me. I thought this was something that would sort itself out, as I used to be able to do this without a problem, but it hasn’t in many days

I hope #Feditext keeps all of the best features and the look and feel of Metatext, and adds what, to me, was missing, like #QT, that I now have in #IceCubes, and threading, like in #Toot! 🤞🏿

As many of you know, the third party iPhone/iPad app Metatext is no longer being maintained as the lead developer had health issues. However, there is now a community-maintained version of the app called Feditext. You can follow the latest news about it at:

If you are looking for another accessible #MetaText replacement check out @Feditext Because, not only does it retain the wonderful accessibility support that metatext had, but it does something I’ve never seen in other clients. One #feature that I’d love to see #Mastodon #IceCubes (& other) #app introduce an #update to assign a #post #visibility #indicator in the #message #text #typing window

After months using #Metatext, I just discovered the subtle difference in the #icon change, in the #toot #creation panel- #unnoticed for months!

If the icon had (eg: a color-coding such as GREEN = #private or RED = public, or an icon that changes with message privacy) #accessibility would also improve

What is that? You can drag down on the screen to initiate a refresh until you’re blue in the face- that thing is going to work on its own time

There have been times that I’ve given up and simply switched to the #Metatext app, so I could read new #posts

I’m using #metatext if that matters

I’m using #Metatext #Mastodon app on #iOS. Two things: the notification settings outside the app and inside the app don’t work. I have to tap on the 🔔 icon in the app to see if I got any.

And is there an app that groups/tallies notifications like the Twitter app? So I can see that x people have liked my Toot or y people have Retooted my post instead of seeing each individual one. It’s rare I get a lot of likes or RTs, but it’s a pain to scroll back through all of them to check on other toots.

@malmorrow #Metatext is quite nice, but have you already tried @IceCubesApp? It is definitely worth a try in my opinion.

Just a heads-up, the iPhone/iPad app #Metatext is no longer being maintained. The lead developer had to take a break due to health issues.

If you want a good iPhone/iPad Mastodon app, try Toot! (more info: https://fedi.tips/toot-for-iphone-ipad/) or Ice Cubes (more info: https://fedi.tips/ice-cubes-for-iphone-ipad/) or Ivory or one of many other nice Mastodon apps now available.

Metatext may still come back in some form, community developers are currently testing a new fork, but it's not quite ready yet.

In #Metatext, if I'm reading down through my timeline and it's been a few days, when I load from toot/post below, it goes way back, and I have to keep pressing that until it eventually gets to the post right below the one I was reading. Is there a quicker way around this? Load from toot below seems like the action I want, not above, unless that works differently than how I thought it does. Thanks!

Pour ceux d’entre vous qui sont sur #Metatext : depuis environ une semaine, l’application est très lente, par exemple je ne peux pas scroller normalement alors que via mon navigateur tout va bien. Mon #iPad est relativement vieux (8 ans) mais fonctionne très bien par ailleurs. Quelqu’un d’autre dans ce cas ?
