This is the side of a vase given to my parents about 20 years ago from the #Philippine congregants of the First United #Methodist Church in downtown Las #Vegas. It was given as a going away present. The vase is quite large, about 2 feet tall. It’s absolutely stunning in person.

I grew up as a preacher's kid. My dad was a Methodist minister for most of my life. As a child, my mom worked full-time so my dad was my babysitter. I used to get to play in the church while he worked on his sermon or talked to people.
One of my favorite memories is simply running through the church exploring all the little nooks and crannies. It is very hard to go into a church as an adult and not open all the doors and look in all the cupboards.
