Diese Elemente lassen sich von Fragen nach Geschlecht, sozialer Klasse und Kolonialismus kaum trennen, sodass sich hier eine bekannte Geschichte noch einmal ganz neu anfühlt.

Ich lese gerade tatsächlich mal einen gruseligen Roman #MexicanGothic von #SilviaMorenoGarcia. Es ist kein Splatter, mehr unterschwelliger Gtusel.

In the early chapters, I felt a lot of parallels with a certain classic, so when Noemí arrived at The High Place, I thought "OK, the gimmick is obviously X, yawn, I hope she at least does something novel with it." Then, a bit further on, "Hmm, it would be kind of cool if it turned out to be something to do with Y…" Then it did, and in a more intriguing way than I had considered.
