Almost missed this beauty as I was driving around a nearby municipal southeast Michigan airport.
A few minutes later, the Red-tailed Hawk with prey in its talons, took off in flight over one of the airport buildings.

My photo of the week: Red-eyed Vireo.
Not the best photo, since the bird was hidden by the shadows of leaves and branches. I managed to get a few photos before it disappeared from view completely.
Usually a bird I hear long before I see it.

From yesterday's Detroit River Hawk Watch:
"Our best day so far with 290 birds and ten different species.
The broad-wings led the way with ninety-seven, although the biggest kettle we saw was thirteen birds.
Most were flying at nosebleed heights, as they are wont to do."

Blue skies, bright sunshine, and cool temperatures make for a beautiful morning at Plymouth Fall Festival for the pancake breakfast and pet show.

After 40+ years, Maybury State Park no longer has guided equestrian trail rides.
Gold leaves from our neighbor's honey locust tree are falling and the breeze is blowing the leaves down the street.
Fall is here.
Quick summary: A December 2020 radio interview reveals Michigan fake elector Meshawn Maddock lied in her recent comments about the fake elector plot.
Can't wait for her to be tried, found guilty, and sentenced to 10+ years.

Just feel like it's a good time to remind everyone that during #COVID #Flint #Michigan still grapples with water issues. Yes, they have won a lawsuit but many, and I don't blame them, do not trust their sources of water. Thanks for remembering. You may be more blessed than you think. It's been 9 years for these residents...NINE years.

My photo of the week: maroon-colored Big bluestem prairie grass waving in the breeze in the early morning at Lake Erie Metropark.
One for the "Big Four" native grasses of central North America, Big bluestem is part of a relatively new native prairie planting at the park.

Proponents see agrivoltaics as a great answer to the question of land use in #Solar #Michigan. In practice, however, it can be difficult https://www.interlochenpublicradio.org/2023-08-24/solar-grazing-is-a-way-for-farmers-and-solar-companies-to-use-land-but-there-are-challenges
