It is difficult to assess this as looking "like me," as our perception of our face shifts from depersonalization throughout the day and from day to day, but feedback from one self-diagnosed neurotypical friend suggests this looks just enough like us to have necessitated a double-take.

I thought the plated through-holes feature was particularly fun, as well as the visible seams as if our face is a mask we wear.

I just think it's really neat and fun that we now live in a world where you can ask a computer to imagine new things that look like they can totally exist, but in fact were just dreamed up by a machine that's seen a lot of really cool creative works.

I asked #MidJourney to imagine up some fashion dolls inspired by some other generated images I liked the aesthetic of, and the results are just stunning 🤩

Had the idea to try it with my pseudo-self-portrait, which was...

Working with AI/ML models genuinely fills me with joy.

Today I used #GPT3 to help me reword and simplify a very long and meandering email (& this post, too!)

With #MidJourney, I can start with a vague concept, and refine my language and context to optimize the result towards a close enough approximation to my own actual imagination.

As someone who is exhaustingly verbose and also struggles with a variable access to my lexicon, this quick feedback loop enables me to communicate more effectively.

We were recently playing #MidJourney AI, placing characters into described scenes.

🀣Amy was created first in the beta photo algorithm.
I downsampled her back down to painting from image prompt in v3, then remixed her to v4 with an image prompt again.

It takes a few rerolls for a face similar to what's in the imagination space to emerge.

Then I fed that back into the AI as "inspiration," photo prompt alongside the text prompt "selfie, autochrome photo of a woman in a Café Paris, 1933"

it takes a few tries for it to capture a person that looks similar enough to this specific character as imagined, but the results when they do emerge are pretty incredible.
