I had my first #mincepie so it must be #Christmas.

Normally I avoid them - my memories of working in offices and being offered something which tasted of cardboard soaked in suet and dusted with sugar - has put me off.

However, this pie wasn't too unpleasant ...

Just had my first #mincePie of the season! A day early according to my wife. And very good they are too.

#MincePie review - Tesco Finest crumble topped with brandy, cognac and port

The crumble topping adds a lovely crunch to the texture. It couples with a nice sticky filling to make eating it an event, and not something to be scoffed absent-mindedly.

The flavour of the booze is subtle, adding depth rather than slapping you around the face. A top contender for this year.

Today is all about the food. I have just eaten my 1st #MincePie of 2020 - many more will follow :-)
