Que nunca pongo por aquí estas cositas que hago.
Okay so Shotgun Wedding was pretty fun. Enjoyed it a lot. Definitely wouldn’t have worked with the original casting of Armie Hammer, so him getting the boot for obvious reasons actually helped make the movie good in the end. Josh Duhamel is a much better character fit with his goofiness. I recommend.

Since the Black Lives Matter movement hit the news in 2020, race relations have been on the cultural and social agenda in ways they have rarely, if ever, been before.
You People (Netflix) closely follows the tropes of its genre: the romcom. There is a meet cute, meetings with the parents, a fall out about 3/4 in, and a wedding. It however has a depth that most romcom lack.

Having watched it in the original, I don't know how well the show survives translation, but I found it really funny and a brilliant piece of political and social satire.
Only the last two episodes felt a little under par (particularly the debate, which felt rather nonsensical), but it's all very well observed and self-deprecating.
It gets my vote!

Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky famously starred in a comedy series in which he played an everyman becoming president of his country almost against his will.
Represent (En place), on Netflix, is a French take on the same premise. This time the hero is a black social worker from the banlieues, and we follow him over six short episodes during the presidential campaign.

There is, in the end, not much of a story to All Quiet on the Western Front (#Netflix) but the film somehow manages to hold our attention for 2.5 hrs.
This new adaptation of the 1929 book is a stunning and visually beautiful (in its sobriety, and despite the horror) denunciation of the futility of war, and the awful things humans will do to each other.
No wonder the film is at the top of the nomination table for the BAFTAS.
I unexpectedly rather enjoyed the first season of the dark comedy Dead to Me (Netflix). It is about grief, friendship, and atonement. It is also about deception, and as such enjoys playing with our perceptions and expectations, with a few interesting twists.

Just binged #EmilyInParis3, because I'm a sucker for punishment.
There is still A LOT of silliness (particularly in the early eps) but it feels a little more mature than the previous 2 series, like this has a little more depth. Or maybe I'm just getting immune...
It's all geared up for a 4th season, though.

Una nueva Mini Review en vídeo con algunos datos rápidos.
Ya sólo me quedan 2 para cubrir todos los juegos que me he pasado este año.
Porque no creo que me dé tiempo a pasarme ninguno más 😓.

I watched the early (1977) #DavidCronenberg film "Rabid". The trademark #BodyHorror and sexual connotations are already here, no doubt about it (oh hi, armit vaginapenis! reminded me of "Alien"). I didn't expect this to grow to a full-blown zombie pandemic by the end of the film, that's impressive and ambitious! At times it feels very exploitation-like (the murder scene in the pool with two semi-naked women, or the slow-motion shots for instance).

I've just watched the first episode of #Netflix's new series, #Wednesday, a spin off of the Addams Family directed by Tim Burton. It looks amazing and is great fun. Very promising.

🎥 Terrifier (2016)

Battle of GOG
I got to try out a prototype of this before it failed on Kickstarter. Despite that failure you can now buy it on Amazon. This game did some neat things that I really liked, but also felt like it needed a lot more development.
If they ever do a v2.0 I would give it a look.

Bubblegum Crisis: Mega-Tokyo 2033
This was one of my first bootleg Anime series and I loved it so much. So bought the game. It was derived from Cyberpunk but used a new system (the Fusion System) that I didn't like. So I just stole stuff from it and used it for Cyberpunk 2020.
Now wishing I had at least tried to run a game just with this. I was far too stubborn regarding systems back then.
Battle for Armageddon
A Warhammer 40k hex and counter wargame published in 1992. Including what you would expect, chits, a combat results table, stacking rules etc.
I really enjoyed this back in the day and should give it another shot now.
