@evelyn Last century, before I lost my sight, I used to cut out found images or make collage covers for the cassettes I recorded for other people. When I couldn't quite find the right image or inspiration, I would use the following image:

I love that people do #mixTapes and #playlists and I hate that they post them to #spotify .

I wish there were another viable way to do them. I won't use Spotify, I'm sorry.

I think the rise of #gangstarap and super commercial rap in the 90's set a shit example for younger would be rappers and it seems that's where most of the energy went, with big labels throwing their weight behind a lot of garbage.

I really think #mixtapes are where it's at. I discovered so much good shit that way, they were so creative, but my old ass wouldn't even know where to get them today. HELP! The Dead Prez / Gangsta Grillz mix Tape with DJ Drama (linked below) is IMO the best music DP ever put out. For those who don't know about DJ Drama def check out this podcast about him and how he got busted for making mixtapes.

I can't stop thinking that It would be so badass to have a mixtape exchange club with the Fediverse as its HQ instead of Instagram (see the prior message in this thread).

Who remembers this beauty? I think it was THIS particular TDK SA that made me fall in love with #cassettes, and later #mixtapes.

The first one I remember touching was from my uncle's collection, and he let me tape the first Boston record (on vinyl). His stereo was RIDICULOUSLY high end.

Such wonderful memories.

There are several of these in this haul, from various years, but this specific model is special.
