Whereas I'm convinced most #blind people that use phones can dial emergency services on a regular Touchtone keypad and even abled people can do it...
I mean those boxes are like €50 and a desktop GSM phone is like €100 with battery for WEEKS (!!!) of standby and DAYS of calling time...

The Dutch government is banning mobile phones, tablets and smartwatches from classrooms to minimise distractions.
The ban will be enforced starting 1 January 2024.
It was agreed on by the education ministry, schools and related organisations.
Exceptions will be made for lessons on digital skills, or if students with disabilities or other medical conditions need the devices.

They hardwired so much of the OS functionality into the clunky GUI, it took them too long to re-engineer the whole damn thing for other platforms allowing Google and Apple to dominate.

An #FOI to West Yorkshire Police revealed 165 mobile phones were stolen in the Bradford city centre area last year – of which 157 incidents were recorded as crimes.
The 2018 figure stood at 475 phones stolen (343 crimes).
