#DOTD: Wen Tianxiang 文天祥 (1236–83), poet and official of the Southern Song #南宋 (1127–1279). A #SongLoyalist, he was captured and executed by the invading forces of Kublai Khan after he refused to accept an office under the #Mongol-#Yuan #元 (1271–1368).

Really enjoyed the talk tonight on the #Mongol world order "Before the West" (https://doi.org/10.1017/9781108975377), esp. the closing analogies with today's world. It helped me think about a piece I'm co-writing on international law in ancient/early medieval #India.
