The Wikipedia entry for #MountKailash has a section with the title: #mountaineering.

In that section, there is an entry: "#ReinholdMessner was given the opportunity by the Chinese government to #climb in the mid-1980s. But he declined, saying 'If we conquer this mountain, then we conquer something in people's souls.'"

I love that.

I don't believe the peak has ever been climbed, and given it holy status (many Buddhists consider Mt. Kailash to be the center of the earth) that's as it should be.
