So many neat things at a big movie memorabilia auction this weekend. I dug through and pulled out highlights for classic movie fans ...

The biggies were Travolta's white disco suit from "Saturday Night Fever" and an antique cigarette box used in 1931's "Dracula," but there were lots of other things not fetching hundreds of thousands of dollars 😂

During my early years in the Deep South of America, I experienced diversity at school, especially in Arkansas. As a white student, I was often in the minority. The only thing that won me some respect was basketball, and in particular, my ability to steel. What I hope for is diversity in the discussion of , particularly . Today in 1938, Florence Lawrence committed suicide. Born in 1886 in Hamilton, she was called "The First Movie Star", she appeared in over 300 films in her career.
Her career declined in the late-1920s & in 1937 she was diagnosed with a painful bone marrow disease.

As I recall "the Big Red One" include safe scene where a soldier is reading the GI paperback edition of Samuel Fuller's newspaper murder-mystery novel "The Dark Page," which was published while he was a G.I., and was later made into the movie Scandal Sheet, with Broderick Crawford.
