The Bat (1959, directed by Crane Wilbur) is a #Gothic #WhoDunnit that’s better (and less campy) than you might think.
#AgnesMoorhead plays a writer of murder mysteries & May well be the original #FuckAroundAndFindOut. Really, all the women are pretty cool in this.
And #VincentPrice as the town doctor is all charm and elegance, even (and especially) when discussing murder.
Included with Prime & MGM+ (but worth the rental).

Still watching & reccing #HorrorFilms. This week it’s #TheUnheard (2023).
Director Jeffrey A Brown’s film warrants a big ⚠️Epilepsy⚠️ Trigger Warning. Why narrow your audience? #Ableism also in that a Hearing actor is playing a Deaf role.
And yet… if you’re able, I think you should watch this, because the writing (by the Rasmussen brothers) is good and #LachlanWatson is so good in it.

#MovieRec: #YouPeople on Netflix is very, very funny. And very honest, even painfully so, at times. Standing ovation for #JonahHill & #KenyaBarris & everyone who took risks to put this film together.
It reminded me of one of my childhood favorites: Andrew Bergman’s “The In-Laws” (1979).
The affluent Brentwood Jewish thing is a pretty foreign culture to me (a middle-class Cleveland Hts Jew with Workmen’s Circle Omas & Opas). But I connected enough to blush & laugh & wince at my people.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

But #2022? After Everything Everywhere All at Once blew us all collectively away in April, nothing else really came close. Aftersun is my only next favourite great. And to me, the solid fun ones this year are probably a couple including Turning Red and Glass Onion. Everything else felt vaguely…ok, screen entertainment.
Anything you loved this year that I might have missed out?

#7FilmsToKnowMe #horror edition in no particular order:
Jacob's Ladder (1990)
Suspiria (2018) (sorry og suspiria fans)
Candyman (1992)
The Sixth Sense (1999)
Silent Hill (2006) (SH revelation 3d doesn't exist, ok?)
The Blair Witch Project (1999)
Threads (1984)
I know Threads as a horror movie might raise some eyebrows but I believe nuclear apocalypse / radioactivity to be the most underused horror genre and the deadpan, very realistic depiction of a nuclear winter makes it the most terrifying movie I have ever seen.

Anyone has recs for a FUN horror movie? Like Ready Or Not, Deadstream etc. No heavy shit. We watched Smile and it was very depressing and quite triggering so we kinda want something lighter right now.
