People complain about Mulder ditches, but I see S1 Mulder as a loner so convinced that no one was on his side that he tended to take off whenever it appeared the doubts of others would halt the search for the truth. By S2 though he's ditching Scully for another reason...

This art reminds me of a film called They Might Be Giants about a grieving man who convinces himself that he is Sherlock Holmes as a way to cope. The psychiatrist, named Dr. Watson, who tries to treat him discovers he is...actually onto something. This speech from the "Holmes" in the film about Don Quixote tilting at windmills thinking they were giants is pure Mulder: "(Quixote) thought that every windmill was a giant. That's insane.
