The first book of Murakami's I read was Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki. I read it in a flash. Since then I've read a number of Murakami books and I enjoy the good with the bad that comes with his writing. None managed to capture me as much as Tsukuru though. That is, until I finally read Norwegian Wood now. It felt like the continuation from Tsukuru that I was inadvertently looking for. Norwegian Wood was an excellent read that will stay with me for a while. #amreading #books #murakami #bookstodon

The writing style of the monk Yoshida Kenko is informative when approaching the work of Murakami. His "follow the brush" style is a sort of early precursor to stream of consciousness writing, letting his mind play and following where it leads. This is also a great way to write a first novel.
