This rare c1770 AD #CompanyPainting from #Murshidabad was sold by Sotheby's to Kiran Nadar Museum of Art #Noida #UttarPradesh on 22nd Sept. 2020 for US$70,000.
#WilliamDalrymple writes in his book 'The Anarchy' that because of #EastIndiaCompany flawed agricultural & economic policies, by 1770AD, entire region of #Bengal experienced a great famine.
This situation probably reflects in this #Painting
