387 followers · 1998 posts · Server sfba.socialSo far so good with the testing of my newly-refurbished reel-to-reel. Everythingās working, and I have to say, the sound quality is incredible. I canāt detect any difference between the source material and the recording.
I did get a bit of an education yesterday when I learned that no consumer-grade reel-to -reel will play a recording backwards. Iād been hoping to do that.
Instead, you can record a passage in stereo, then swap the reels, and record another passage. After pressing play to hear one āsideā, you can press the reverse button to have the deck play in the opposite direction, during which youāll hear the other āsideā you recorded. Then you can toggle back and forth, without stopping in between.
Still useful for creative purposes. š¶

I sent this beast off yesterday to be serviced. Itās generally in decent shape for a 1970s deck, though Iām anticipating getting it back in like-new condition.

The Wham is pretty versatile (something I prioritize) but I wish it had more ways to alter its sound. Great that itās got individual outs. š¶

Considering Avantone Pro Gauss 7ās, Kali Audio IN-8 V2ās and Dynaudio BM5 mkIIIās. Would appreciate other options and recommendations.

When I render a version and bring that into Izotope, I donāt have the option of selecting speakers. Izotope only sees my main monitors. Is that by design, or more of a limitation?
