Ap. 10 % of Georgia’s population is #Muslim, and until 1951 there were 2 mosques in Tbilisi. Then the Blue Mosque was demolished by the Communist government. Seeing that the Shia community had nowhere to go, Jumah Mosque opened its doors to them, making it one of the only mosques in the world where the two sects worship together. Until 1996, a black curtain was used to divide the mosque between Sunnis and Shiites during prayer, but today, the two pray side by side.

Salaam, a quick question to the muslims on mastodon: wich prayer app do you use? I'm currently using Pillars for Android. The nice design and no advertisements make it easy to use. Although as any other app it seems to have a problem with showing maghrib prayer times correctly, no matter how I adjust my settings.

Based on an annotation in an Islamicate manuscript that was acquired in the Caribbean, in 1773, an enslaved West African person in Léogâne (Haiti) wrote an Arabic charm in the presence of Pierre DuSimitiere. The talismanic charm is “mostly comprised of several repeated verses from the Qurʾān [with] a few words in Soninke.”

Me to my dad : I am not gonna participate in #EidAlAdha this year. I don't believe it's religiously required to sacrifice a sheep. You can worship in other ways. Besides, animals feel pain too and I don't want to see the process or results. I don't even eat meat and I try to reduce suffering when I can.
