The cynic in me says that the problems #myenergi are experiencing with their v5 firmware updates are due to an aggressive takeover by a company that want to hammer them into the ground. I did consider UK legislation, but that doesn't come with NDAs attached.

All made worse by my charger failing (under warranty) at the same time as these changes and the new device suffering all the issues.

As a result, I have to charge the car from a 13A socket (slow) or go to an (expensive) charging facility.

@bobbyllew after listening to you going on about it in your advertisement segments for ages, I upgraded my wallbox to a zappi. Seems to be one of those rare instances where buying after seeing the ad on social media was not a bad idea. #MyEnergi #renewables #emobility

Today most of our solar PV was directed to charging our car (though slowly), thanks to #MyEnergi's #Zappi. Yesterday most of it was exported to the grid.

Well, got the Myenergi, Foxess, Sony TV and Router add-ons running. Maybe leave the Solaredge one for another day. Looking good, although it doesn't look as if I can program the battery charge time from the add-on. That'll be a shame as I wanted to automate it based on solar prediction for the next day. I

Just installed #homeassistant on a micro pc using the generic x86 download. Apart from a bit of an issue getting an EFI boot entry setup, using Mint live allowed me to sort this, all seems to be running ok. Now I need to get #Myenergi #Zappi, #Harvi, plus #Foxess #homebattery and #solaredge #inverter integrated. Be great to have everything on one display instead of 3 apps. #homeassistant seems to have found my TV and Router automatically so they are on the dashboard. Neat!

... #SolarEdge, Boy, are those folks control freaks! They also disable their local endpoint and leave cloud-only access, but in their case it's *read-only* access. No updates :(
Car charger is #MyEnergi #Zappi - also cloud only (although at least it has a fairly decent API)
Car is a #KIA. No published open API.

Anyway, the experience has certainly ensured that I will be more careful when making product choices in the future 🙂 (2/2)

Anyone got an opinions on why #GivEnergy battery systems (inverter + batteries) seem to be so much more affordable than the alternatives?

Typical prices seem to be just under £6k for 9.5kwH and 3kw #inverter - this is about 30-40% cheaper than the competition with similar features (#tesla, #myenergi, #powervault).
