:NERevs: #NERevs seem to have given Farrell a veteran pay bump with a TAM contract for 2023 (*fairly* certain he had already been under contract for this season), and *options* for 2024/2025. It's an interesting thing. Glad he's getting paid though. Absolute club stalwart.

Andrew Farrell is one of my favorite :NERevs: #NERevs players in my time watching the team and I am 100% certain he did not mean anything by it but it still weirds me out that he chose to change his number to 88, which has problematic present-day usages. Glad I already have his jersey with 2 on it. I would feel extremely uncomfortable wearing 88 out into the world, regardless of the intent.

:USSoccer: #USMNT vs :FASerbia: #Serbia could be :NERevs: #NERevs goalkeeper vs former Revs goalkeeper, if Turner also gets called up. But I expect Turner will stay with Arsenal as January camp frequently leaves out a lot of European players.

#MLS announces their broadcast team for Season Pass on Apple TV. Was BWP announcing previously? That's a surprise to me. I expected we wouldn't see Brad Feldman, but where's Charlie Davies? He's been a pretty common face in MLS media, not just :NERevs: #NERevs media. #MastodonFC

:NERevs: #NERevs sign Jack Panayotou as their tenth homegrown signing. He was pretty dominant in #MLSNEXT last year; hopefully that translates. I don't really have high expectations for homegrowns/academy products anymore. Fagúndez was as good as it ever got. Maybe Caldwell. Both good, but rarely more than good. I have hopes for Buck, who looked good in limited minutes last year, though. #MLS #MastodonFC

@joncollinsdev My feeling is that probably the hashtags you're looking at there have little or no content that your Masto instance is aware of. Hashtag search doesn't search the whole fediverse—only the content the instance has already cached. Which is why someone looking at the #golang hashtag from a different server may see different results than you, and part of why I'm so lonely on the #NERevs hashtag. It's the biggest issue I have with Mastodon right now.

I honestly had no idea that Dave Romney had amounted to anything. All I remember is that he went to LAG years ago, and we all learned that he was a distant relative to Mitt Romney. @messick I'm a pretty big homer which means I haven't seen him play a ton, but I always thought he had a decent reputation. Glad to hear that sentiment from someone who watched him more. :NERevs: #NERevs have some serious talent in Gil and Polster in the midfield, but they need a third person that they can trust in there. Hope maybe he's that guy.

Looks like Latif Blessing is coming to #NERevs (saw in a Slack, checked the birdsite :( ). I feel like that's a good pickup? Word is $400k in GAM, which isn't too bad but don't mistake that for salary.

#NERevs re-signed Nacho Gil. No surprise there. I think it's a good deal, but team needs more than to stay the same in 2023

:NERevs: #NERevs traded up to pick a midfielder at #4 in the #MLS #MLSSuperDraft. Midfield has been a weakness in the last two years, despite a few really strong players there—not enough to fill in a full starting XI, let alone depth.

Heard from a friend who's still on the birdsite that #MLS is considering a World Cup-style postseason, with 16 teams in group and 8 teams advancing to elimination.

In American sports, the regular season *is* the group stage. Having a group stage in the playoffs is dumb. I will sometimes watch playoffs when my :NERevs: #NERevs have been eliminated—but single-elimination is dramatic. I can't imagine watching teams that aren't mine in a group stage. #MastodonFC
