I'm looking to contact #nhs #informatics staff in acute trusts, specifically about PAS data for #infectiousdisease surveillance.
Can anyone suggest any groups to contact?

The “always spot-on about the #NHS” Roy #Lilley (in his blog) hits the nail in the head again about the #Tories’ performative - “let’s have more regulation” - response to the #Letby neonatal murders disaster!
“Inspection has not made the NHS safer, regulation protects no one. Yet, we pour millions into systems that give us nothing in return.”
We’ll worth a read!

Why is the #NHS contracting with #Palantir, a controversial US business whose founder, Peter #Thiel, is a buddy of #Trump & which undertakes “federal work, which includes building battlefield software, migrant surveillance systems and ‘predictive policing’ [#MinorityReport-style] tools to identify potential perpetrators and victims of crime.”

I hope the competitor who needed a respirator and was in a lot of pain at today's York #triathlon is ok. Wonderful support from the #NHS ambulance at the side of the run btw
@TheEuropeanNetwork gives me no pleasure in boosting this article re #NHS #infrastructure - but there's no point in escaping that years of funding cuts, even when they were dressed up as not affecting frontline services, can have longer term consequences.
The sad thing is that once such a problem is noticeable, it is harder to fix quickly enough. The inertia to capital investment in #healthcare #facilities is long and slow. Prob not just in #UKPolitics

To all that say that acquiring Legacy will not harm people and that poor #JKR is just saying thing and it's her right..... She's comparing people wanting independance with #nazis.
She litterally gives money to fight the independance, to promote the #Tories (you know, the ones that are destroying #NHS and every #workers' rights in #UK), to help #TERF that attacks #gay and #trans rights (and also #women rights because they're that stupid)....In summary, yes, she's hurting real #people.
If you buy anything Potter, she will get money. It's not that hard to understand.
Oh and make yourself a favor, READ ANOTHER BOOK !
her heinous patterns of attacking people was not recent. Not sure if she really stopped funding the anti- independance (notably because of the stance of #Scotland on #trans #person).

England to deny #Covid and #flu jabs to under-65s despite fears for #NHS this winter https://www.theguardian.com/society/2023/aug/08/england-to-deny-covid-and-flu-jabs-to-under-65s-amid-fears-for-nhs-this-winter?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
Yet: “Last winter was one of the most challenging on record for the NHS in England. It is expected to face a surge in demand in the coming months with officials anticipating a large number of people needing help for respiratory illnesses, including flu and Covid.”
#OKBoomer vibe. 😳
So sad to read. Such a multifactorial problem. No easy solutions. #NHS #ukpolitics
Number of people waiting to start routine hospital treatment in England at record high
> The NHS says strikes have had a considerable impact on elective appointments and procedures, saying about 778,000 hospital appointments have been rescheduled.
The idea that the private sector can help us deal with waiting lists is absolutely wrong.
The government’s new policy of giving more contracts to the private sector puts private profits before patients. #OnlyTheNHS #NHS
Dr John Puntis of #KeepOurNHSPublic and Doctors in Unite was interviewed on LBC recently.
The private sector doesn’t train staff - it relies upon those who are so burned out that they look for work elsewhere.
Relying on the #privatesector to plug the gaps in the #NHS workforce will *worsen* our staffing problem, not improve it.

What ever we want, a US healthcare system, where this sort of behaviour is permitted, is not what anyone should want.
The UK and NHS deserves better.
Content warning: article about treatment withdrawal to improve mortality figures.
"This article is based on interviews with six nurses and 27 doctors who currently practice at 16 HCA hospitals in seven states or did so previously[....]. Internal HCA hospital documents and texts support these [HCW] views."

By comparison in health care the problem has been that the private sector does not have the culture let alone the resources to treat high risk patients. So the result was either "cherry picking" of low risk cases or, fortunately briefly, what read and sounded like a bizarre exercise in "industrial strategy" in which the state would intervene to incubate private operators which could then work to #nhs standards. Appropriately this was in a speech from the #ultra #AlanMilburn !
@BBC5Live so conflicted on this.
It is not right to make people wait for treatment out of principle, so faster access to healthcare for those in need is important.
At the same time, shouldn't be like this. A universal, tax-funded healthcare system should not need adjunctive provision from private sector. 😔 #NHS
At roughly this time exactly seventy five years ago I was born in a #nhs maternity hospital in Mill Road, Cambridge. The hospital no longer exists as such although the last time I visited the site it seemed to be in use for some form of social care. I was told very much later the birth was not a difficult one and that my mother spent much of the time listened to a test match on the hospital radio. I may follow this up later. You have been warned!
An accurate and honest statement - made just under a month before I was born under the #nhs. Just how many government statements today would meet the same standard?

Please @SadiqKhan @MayorofLondon do not give way to @Keir_Starmer if he's nervous about the #ULEZ. You are doing the right thing to help children and adults in London. And even take some pressure off the #NHS.
