In the Netherlands, Lars van der Haar got another national champs win beating his team mate Joris Nieuwenhuis after a close race. Bronze medal for Ryan Kamp.

And the win at the #NK2023 in #Zaltbommel is for Puck Pieterse who made good use of her bike handling skills and managed to ride larger sections of the course than her opponents.
Silber medal for Ceylin Alvarado and Bronze for Fem van Empel.
This could well have been the result of the World championships as well since Dutch riders are dominating women's #cyclocross as of late.
Betsema in 4th, Worst in 5th.

Alvarado has started to distance van Empel in the final lap of the women's #NK2023 race in #Zaltbommel. I'd be surprised if van Empel could rebound in the fight for the silver medal - body language usually does not lie. Thanks to a strong second half of her race, Betsema has gone past Worst into 4th place.

After 41min02 Pieterse starts with her bell lap. The gap to van Empel and Alvarado is 28secs - so barring disaster Pieterse should have this race in the bag and get her first national championship title in the elite women's category. The fight for 2nd will be real nail-biter.

In lap 4 of the women's #NK2023 race in #Zaltbommel, Pieterse has expanded her lead. Van Empel has left Alvarado behind in pursuit now, but the gap is pretty substantial by now. If Pieterse has not gone to deep it will be hard to get back to her.

In lap 3 of the women's #NK2023 race in #Zaltbommel, it's Ceylin Alvarado who has come to the front, with van Empel and Pieterse in tow.
Keep in mind Alvarado won the World champs in Dübendorf on a very muddy course as well. But then Pieterse has a strong section in the mud and stays on the bike while the other two opt to run.

At the beginning of lap 2 van Empel kept pushing from 1st position, but now Pieterse has taken the lead and she gets a small gap to van Empel and Alvarado.
While van Empel opts to run when in doubt, Pieterse is trying to keep riding in some of the very muddy sections. We'll see if that's a waste of energy or a winning strategy. Van Empel has closed the gap in a running section.

Fem van Empel has been putting the pressure on the competition from the very start in the Dutch national #cyclocross champs race of the women.
For a moment she had a gap of 5secs, but that was when Puck Pieterse reacted. After a small mistake, both Pieterse and Alvarado are back with van Empel.
At the tech zone the mud is ankle-deep.

The fastest start at the women's Dutch national #cyclocross champs is for Fem van Empel. Brand in 2nd, then Alvarado and Pieterse. Betsema and Vos with a somewhat slower start.
Plenty of running due to the deep mud, which may well be in favour of van Empel who has an athletic background in football.

Today's #cyclocross program for me:
A. 1:45PM CET #NK2023 Dutch championship women in #Zaltbommel with Puck Pieterse, Fem van Empel, Lucinda Brand, Ceylin Alvarado, Marianno Vos, Inge van der Heijden and Denise Betsema. Course is very, very muddy!
B. 3:15PM CET #BK2023 Belgian championship men, apart from Wout van Aert pretty much everyone is competing.
Should be a cracker as well!
