This morning I finished "Open carry" by Marc Cameron,. This is the first book in the Arliss Cutter series. I first came across Marc Cameron when he was writing Tom Clancy novles. I then read his Jericho Quinn Series, and I like his own stuff. It's just a fun read where the good guys are good but not perfect and the bad guys get what's coming to them.
Here's the description from BARD:

The week before last, I was under the weather, so I turned to science fiction, which is my comfort food when it comes to reading. So I just finished "Space carrier avalon" by Glynn Stewart. It's the first book in the Castle Federation series and the first book I've read by glynn Stewart. It took a while to get into it, which I find to be true with any new science fiction novel, given all of the new unfamiliar worlds and stuff. By the end, I really liked it, and I'm looking for to reading more books by glynn Stewart and the next book in the Castle Federation series.
The description on BARD is:
Space carrier avalon DB113957
Author: Stewart, Glynn
Reading Time: 10 hours, 53 minutes
Read by: Eric Michael Summerer
Subject: Science Fiction
"Avalon was the flagship of the Castle Federation in the last war, now twenty years past. The first of the deep space carriers, no other warship in the fleet holds as many honors or has recorded as many kills. No other warship in the fleet is as old. Accepting the inevitable, the Federation Space Navy has decided to refit her and send her on a tour of the frontier, showing the flag to their allies and enemies as a reminder of her glory-and then decommission her for good. But Avalon has been a backwater posting for ten years and has problems a mere refit can't fix. The systems along her planned tour have been seeing pirates for the first time in decades, and there are rumblings of Commonwealth scouting ships all along the border. It may be Avalon's final tour, but it looks to be anything but quiet." -- Provided by publisher.

Just because this is an issue I have been running into, due to #google deciding to name their large language model the same as an existing and popular service for #blind people, #braille users, etc, the #bard tag is now almost all content related to that, as such the #nls and #NLSBard tags are much better choices to share and find content related to that service.

@evilcookies98 oh the audio and braille files from #NLSBard do the same, I could actually share the zip archives that download to anyone I want as they have zero drm or what not.
@dhamlinmusic Not sure why my shortcuts stopped workin, but od now. #NLSBARD
Successfully downloaded files from #NLSBard and transferred them to my #orbitReader20Plus using my phone.
@NightDrake Ooh, #MercedesLackey’s stuff is awesome. I think collegium chronicles was actually the series of hers that I read most recently. I’ve been known o go back and reread some of the #Valdemar stuff for the familiarity of it, though come to think of it, there are books in that group I have yet to finish, either I started them and life got crazy, or I’ve een meaning to get to them and just haven’t. Have you read any of her #ElementalMasters stuff? I wish #NLSBard would get more of her stuff in Braille, frankly.

This may be of interest to my fellow conservatives and friends available on #NLSBard:
Defeating big government socialism: saving America's future DB109778
Gingrich, Newt. Reading time: 8 hours, 25 minutes.
Read by Newt Gingrich; Tom Parks.
U.S. History
"In communities across our country, Americans are debating Critical Race Theory, vaccine mandates, tax increases, rising inflation, online censorship, and a host of other important issues. We have serious decisions to make about the future of our nation. Do we want big government, or limited government? Do we want to work hard and keep what we earn, or do we want government to decide how our money is spent? Do we want our children to learn how to think in school, or be told what to think? Do we want to make our own decisions about health care, or should the federal government dictate our treatments? Should American companies compete on a level playing field, or should Washington decide who wins and loses? Speaker Gingrich analyzes these questions, describes the polling that shows what the American Majority wants, and illustrates how we can create a safer, more prosperous, and secure future for America. In |Defeating Big Government Socialism|, Gingrich explains how Americans can reject the values of Big Government Socialists who have taken over the modern Democratic Party, big business, news media, entertainment, and academia. He lays out a roadmap to save America's future and ensure it remains the greatest nation on earth." -- Provided by publisher. Unrated. Commercial audiobook.
I just got through sending an email to my state library, since I was not sure whom I needed to write to at the main headquarters dealing with #NLSBard, having to do with wrongful categorizing of material.
Now granted, I am back-slidden LDS, but still, come on now, I'm noticing what looks like a bit of a slur here towards at least one religion when these books are placed on the #NLSBard Website.
Okay, why is it that as I go through #NLSBard, and I see LDS related material, and darn near everyone of them is categorized as "Religious Fiction" and yet, at the end of the annotation, I see "NLS Nonfiction?"

New Search options that allow patrons to select Spanish-language content or “all” language content in each inquiry. By default, the language is set to English content only unless directed.
New Search Music options to supplement the existing Search options. By default, Search Music options exclude any language processing. Version 2.1 allows for a more intuitive music search experience. Music collections will continue to be included within the general Search as well.
Full access to the longer book annotations available in the More Info, Details menus.
Various bug fixes, including an issue with the sleep timer volume spiking, and an issue with user id and password fields not being editable while using VoiceOver.
BARD Mobile users can confirm that they are running version 2.1 by checking the bottom of the app’s Settings screen.

Okay, for those using the #Humanware #NLSEReader, is anyone else getting an error when trying to access #NLSBard? I'm able to log in, but if I try looking up something, I'm getting an error message, then being sent back to the NLSBard main screan.

Merry early-Christmas to me and @TheZooLady! We now both have decent Braille displays, mine now being one that doesn't sound like a mini-gatling gun. #Humanware has done an awesome job with this little #NLS #EReader, and I am totally loving it! I've so far downloaded several books from #NLSBard, and am writing this with the EReader connected to my iPad. Next step: put my character sheets and music on here so I have easy access to that stuff. And one of the things I love with this: it has *INTERNAL* storage, so I don't have to have anything attached or inserted! Yes, this is perfection in an equally perfect case right here!
