Yesterday evening I was able to get AIS working over the WiFi, it basically reads #NMEA0183 data via UART and sends them via UDP to server. Now I need to do some power source as it need to be powered by boat 12V power system. Here is dAISy HAT at the top of ESP32 One, few HW hacks required and Serial2 configuration of HAT had to be enabled, but it works! #Boating #SignalK #SensESP

So next update on my #RaspberryPi boat system. I've used #RaspberryPico to read NMEA0183 stream from #dAISy HAT and send it into CM4 running #SignalK. What is #AIS? It's automatic identification system and every bigger ship is using radio to send out it's status, WGS84 location and that little red board is able to intercept transmission and spit out #NMEA0183 sentences via UART these are parsed and ship is displayed on map. Data are sufficient to detect collision courses and avoid them.

I'm preparing new boat system for next season. So I've bought this #Waveshare board for #RaspberryPi CM4 module with integrated SIM7600G LTE modem. Now I'm able to maintain stable LTE connection and read #NMEA0183 ππ° GPS data in #SignalK. It's a good start. More to come!
