A few years ago, Canada's federal granting agency (#NSERC) began their #Alliance grant program. One feature was no #deadlines. You could submit whenever!
Me: "Wow, that's going to be great."
Me now: "Wow, do we ever need deadlines."
The problem with the no-deadline model is that no application is ever perfect. That means that no matter what, there's always one more thing to do – from yourself, your co-applicants, university research offices, etc.
Deadlines put an end to finicky #revisions.
