Sea kayaking tonight off #Nairn when.... When we came up close to a stunning #BaskingShark. She, like many, was totally disinterested in me.
It was just going to be a gentle stroll and back to the beach. Instead we went along the beach playing stick and swims as we went. I didn't do the swims, but Skye might have. Just a bit, and some.

It takes a little finding but is well worth the effort. The unusual Ardclach Bell Tower, in a remote upland area south east of Nairn, was built in 1655. Originally a fortified retreat, it later became a detached bell tower for a nearby church. More pics and info: https://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/nairn/ardclachbelltower/index.html

#A96 Resurfacing West of #Nairn
I have just posted about this in my blog but I think a lot of people will want to share this news so I'm posting it again as a separate item.
Over the next month the A96 west of Nairn is being resurfaced along approximately 1290m from a point 70m east of B9092 Ardersier Junction and 100m east of Delnies Woods. This is well overdue … but is going to cause you issues if you are using the road, especially at night.

Highland Council were unable to collect refuse in Sandwood Drive, Penny Lane, Robbins Court, Cullen Court, Russell Place, Tradespark Road, Davidson Drive and Sandown Farm Lane, #Nairn yesterday. If this affects you please leave your bin out and it will be collected today.
@ColinHaynes Blimey. OK, well ... it's the A roads coloured green rather than red on most maps 😀
But actually the fundamental point about them is that all public roads are funded and managed by the local highways authority (so either county councils or unitary authorities depending on where you live) *except* trunk roads and motorways, which are funded and managed nationally.
So here in #Nairn the A96 is managed by Amey on behalf of Transport Scotland and is funded by the Scottish Government.
Congratulations to The Sun Dancer in #Nairn which was named as Scottish Restaurant of the Year at the Scottish Restaurant Awards 2023 on Monday.

The #HighlandCouncil wide 20mph limits in urban areas has made it to #Nairn and a sign has now appeared on the lamppost over the fence from the bottom of our garden.
