Hello Fediverse! Here's an #introduction to SIGGEN, the ACL special interest group for #NaturalLanguageGeneration

Beginning with the 1st International Workshop on #NLG in 1990, SIGGEN has been organising events for the discussion, dissemination and archiving of research topics and results in the field of #TextGeneration (where a text doesn't necessarily have to be written, of course).

The name is usually pronounced [ˈsɪɡ.ʤɛn].

A new article on surface realization architectures for natural language generation: a review of 77 systems categorised into 6 main types, and a new architecture, written with my graduating student Dr. Zola Mahlaza as the main author. It’s in the print queue at the ACM TALLIP journal.

Hi everyone! I'm very excited to join an explicitly #queer server. I'm a #bisexual, #polyamorous he/they who likes #singing and keeps insisting he's going to start #running again.

I work in #ComputationalLinguistics doing #NaturalLanguageGeneration with an interest in #Psycholinguistics, #Corpus creation, and human #Evaluation of #NLG systems.

#introduction I am a #ComputationalLinguist at the University of Hamburg. In Sept 2022 I joined the German #SignLanguage DGS-Korpus project and 2019-22 worked in the Quest project on multimodal #CorpusAnnotation standards.

Before, I was a researcher in Informatics at the University of Edinburgh. I built #NaturalLanguageGeneration systems for #HumanMachineDialogue projects, often involving robots and/or museum guides.

I play the #bassoon, knit, and am very enthusiastic about cats and trains.
