I love it when trees grow on rocks. It shows just how determined and resilient they can be, if we let them.
This oak is part of one of the few remaining areas of temperate rainforest in the UK - look at the tree ferns growing on it.
We need to protect and extend these precious remnants.

1/ #Storm at the #beach! Went to the #ocean on #CapeCod, MA yesterday to first relax, then go open ocean #swimming for fun and #exercise. Watched this ominous storm move by us for a couple of hours. Before the #swim, the wind began shifting dramatically (bringing the rain clouds toward us). Pictured: L-R The Carters and Wildcat viewed from Mt Madison over Mt Washington's Chandler Ridge on 9/9. 40 years ago today: A long climb up Mount Moriah passed over a bunch of open ledges. Someday, I would like to hike this entire section in nice weather. Today, the clouds had lifted slightly, revealing some hazy views along the ridge crest.

Came across these wild turkeys at the local park yesterday poking around the ball field. The two youngsters were definitely in that awkward teen phase.
I was most amused when the mother wandered into the dugout so it looked like the young one was visiting her in prison through the chain-link fence. (She escaped and they made their getaway shortly thereafter.)

Look at this guy! Turning his head changes how the light hits its neck feathers, making them appear to change color. It could not not share this!
