the gryph usually edits its photos to hell and back (and back to hell (and back)), but this one is straight off the camera: the way the petals and background is rendered is so perfect it doesn't even want to touch it.

one of my best hummingbird images! taken yesterday evening, this Allen's hummingbird gives a great big stretch of his wings before going off and being evil.
really, im not joking. it went and attacked another hummingbird .2s after this image. they're ruthless!

a male Allen’s Hummingbird poses on a branch, feathers puffed up and making eye contact.
handheld at 400mm ISO 6400 1/640th. post digital and sensor crop, this is a 2600mm equivalent image!! wow, technology is amazing. and hummingbirds are tiny.

a black pheobe looks pointedly into the camera with a piercing gaze. sharp feather details on the face, and chest, glistening eyes beak and wings.
most of my best shots are of pheobes, they're just so photogenic! at the bottom left, you can see a remnant of preening, some powder down feathers!
