I'm not sure exactly when they went up, but if there were any presentations you missed at this year's Salem and Festival (including 'A Many-Headed Raven: A Presentation on and Folk ', with Dr Alexander Cummins and myself), the archived recordings are now available for purchase! salemwitchfest.com/copy-of-202

One last plug for this Friday's talk where, along with Dr. Alexander Cummins, we'll be exploring the folk-necromantic background and practical demonological operationalization (not to mention pseudepigraphic pseudo-history) of the Faustian !

Morning peeps. OK, wondering if any of the old hashtags from when I was active on Mastodon late last year are still working or in use. Going to post a handful here and see. Also, these pretty much form a list of my interests too - but if you know me you already know that.

(Disregarding the fact I somehow keep forgetting to post on here)

Let's talk about and the currents of the week leading up to (Orthodox Christian) Easter - and why they're important to pagans.

It's Great Friday today, and as the church bells ring their mournful tune, a veil of grief settles over the world. All is quiet, and the faithful gather flowers for the Epitaph. This somber mood lends a great advantage to if one is willing to experiment.

For us in Eastern Europe, the blending of pagan traditions with Christian elements is far from a surprise, yet it always seems to shock Westerners. Having the capacity to adapt and evolve can be a gift, and it leads to new horizons. But don't let me get carried away.

This blanket of grief will linger over the hearts and minds of those who believe, growing until it reaches its crescendo at midnight on Saturday, and is dissipated by the joy of the Resurrection. In short, this is free real estate for your magic. Of course, any energy of this magnitude needs to be treated with the appropriate risk mitigation, but I am assuming the reader is educated on how to safely interact with energy.

So, what exactly can one do with this energy? Many things, really, but let's start with the simplest and work our way up.

If you've been curious about death work, this is a prime opportunity to introduce yourself to the energy currents without overwhelming yourself. You can dip your toes in the river without getting swept away, because the water has risen far past the shore.

For those already immersed in the work, you will find ease in crossing the bounds or calling forth spirits who may have otherwise had trouble reaching through. Friday is what I jokingly call this day, because it really feels like any I see is barely kept out of the physical world. work of course would be well-received, whether you offer a ritual meal or communicate with them through your preferred means.

in general may be easier for those not yet experienced as well, due to the curiosity some spirits have over such strong emotion in the human population.

Rituals such as cord cuttings, banishments and other such "getting rid of" workings would also benefit from harnessing these energies, as would astral travel and dream work- granted you take the appropriate measures to guard yourself from what may be lurking - but you should already be taking those safety measures anyway! Ritual death and rebirth are definitely worth a mention, though I rarely see them talked about, so if you know you know.

To summarise: The energy of a major religious event is there, so why not make use of it for your magic and workings?

I do want to get ahead of the potential mean comments here and say I understand that many turned to and to escape Christianity and the religious trauma that came with their upbringing. This isn't a pro-Christianity post. This is a suggestion people are free to implement or ignore based on their practice and boundaries.

Assortment of some loose blend glamour shots. I've shared most, if not all of these on my Instagram at the time of their creation, but I realised I never made a moodboard for them, which is a shame because I love moodboards.

From top to bottom and left to right we have: a blend for Murmur, a blend made specifically to honour and guide to peace a queer elder after she tragically passed, an for Beleth and lastly a blend, with my adding in that extra deathy vibe.

If anyone's interested at the specifics of the herbs, I'm happy to share! Every and I use is either or .

Notwithstanding what Hollywood would have you believe, there really *are* dangers in studying tomes of and โ€” for instance, this conjuring inscription from an 18thโ€“19th century German [Universitats- und Landesbibliothek Darmstadt, HS 2543] has laid a curse on me whereby I can't read it without falling into the cadence of Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance"...

Say what you will about the assimilation and commodification of genuine traditions by capitalist commercialism, but I couldn't help but note the ways that this year's Coca-Cola holiday commercial evokes ideas of knowledge transmission, its embodied reproduction in and other communal , and how these in turn commemorate and make present the deceased.

Oh, is a thing here, too?

Well, then.

Hello! You may know me from such translations as ' in the Medici Library'. I've just released a new work through Revelore Press, entitled 'The Miserly ,
or, of a Spirit Who Has Hidden a Treasure', which is an English of the 'conjuratio spiritus, qui thesaurum abscondidit' from Johann Scheible's 1846 'Das Kloster', in a unique chapbook format.

Do have a look!
