Is there anything for "outsiders" to see at the Ness of Brodgar excavations? If so, I'll probably cycle to Orkney this summer (despite the cursed ).

After the final dig in the project (planned for 2024), the site will be covered over and turned into a green field again.

I absolutely love following along as the ongoing excavations at the Ness of Brodgar reveal new insights into this fascinating Neolithic site in the Orkney islands.

The latest update shares new findings about Structure Twenty-Seven and the ‘exquisite’ stonework involved.

@clouds_go_by I doubt that 15% of the folk who see the Stones realise that is even there.

And then the massively important Ness of Brodgar excavation is not even on the tourist trail, but maybe the most important find on Europe right now.
