@PlaneSailingGames @montecook @shanselman #NetNewsWire is a great piece of #OSS that I would love to use but it doesn’t handle media RSS subscriptions like YouTube well. (Show me if I’ve missed something)
#Feedly is really the perfect platform for combining podcasts; YouTube and #PeerTube videos; blogs, journals, and news site articles all in a clean interface with a consistent experience.

@RainBow I use #minflux on a desktop to consume manage and fetch feeds. Miniflux, in turn provides API access that other readers (like #NetNewsWire and #reeder5) can consume. It works really well. When I Star or mark entries read in Reeder, they’re updated in net news wire. I can add feeds in either place, but Miniflux is the source of truth.

@gadgetero I liked Reader back then but moved on to #netnewswire for #rss .
Maybe it was complicated back then but that has not been my experience. It works great.
I had forgotten how much time #RSS can save even compared to only visiting the sites in question. I've been using a self-hosted #TTRSS instance for several years but finally got tired of how it rendered on the iPhone. Trying #NetNewsWire now and really like the experience after spending a little while configuring it. Thanks, @brentsimmons !
I definitely still subscribe to newsletters via email! While I don’t read all of the newsletters all of the time, I read a lot of them and can quickly browse the rest for anything interesting. It keeps everyone in my sphere of attention if that makes sense, but it is also easy to delete and keep the inbox empty.
I also use #NewsNetWire for my RSS feeds (IOS app for my phone and iPad). I moved everything from Feedly (look them up for recent behavior that made people want to move) and it is super easy to use. Copy a URL from a Substack page or any webpage really, and it will either make a new feed or tell you that there’s no RSS feed available. There are other RSS feeds readers too, but #NetNewsWire is an open source personal project and the founder doesn’t even take donations, he just wants people to enjoy it.

@JasonW @molly0xfff Right? I imported my #Feedly feeds to #NetNewsWire in about 2 minutes, no joke. I’ve had so many bad experiences trying to import my content (looking at you Notion) since I’m not a coding person that I couldn’t believe it. First try and everything!
@quinnanya @newsblur I was already moving away from Feedly to #NetNewsWire, but I just imported everything and deleted my Feedly account. Now I’m going to have to try NewsBlur even though I adore NetNewsWire (simple and clean). #FOMO for the win 😂
@molly0xfff Thank you for the helpful pictures, I just took about 2 minutes to move all of my feeds to #NetNewsWire (I’ve only been using it for a few weeks, but love it). As the proud daughter of a UAW member, I won’t abide union-busting in any form.
I love #Mastodon. My heart remains with #RSS though. BTW, Mastodon and RSS are good buddies. Just add .rss to anyone’s fully qualified handle and you get an RSS feed 👍🏼
For what it’s worth #NetNewsWire @NetNewsWire is my feed reader of choice.
I have subscribed to several Mastodon profiles in my #RSS reader @NetNewsWire. Unfortunately, however, it does not display photos that have been posted, but only the text of the post. This makes some posts difficult to follow. 😐
Am I expecting too much from #NetNewsWire or is this somehow my fault (lack of setting or something)? 🤔
How can I not support them?

@brentsimmons Just wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the care you’ve given to #NetNewsWire I’ve returned to it after I left for the Twitterverse back in 2012 or so. I was devastated when muskrat shut me out of #Twitterrific but now that I use NNW as my main newsfeed, it’s simply fantastic! And for free? Much ❤️ to you and everyone else who contributes to NNW! Thank you. 🙏

@rasterweb I use @brentsimmons #netnewswire for personal use, Feedly for work.

If you're organizing a bunch of #RSS feeds (maybe you recently downloaded @chriscoyier's OPML) and it's a huge lift to move things into folders/tags en masse (because you use #Feedbin), try the ol' standy #NetNewsWire.
Even if you like reading in #Reeder, NNW is much better at bulk API calls. And yes, you will get throttled by feedbin. Try batches of 75 moves or so.

Found that the #Mac / #IOS #Freeware #RSS app #NetNewsWire supports following both #Reddit & #Twitter feeds with minimal fuss. A very handy way to keep tabs on those who yet remain on the burning birdsite (and elsewhere)
