Anyway, I'm a bit sorry about these kinda miserable posts but I have unfortunately learned the hard way not to trust individuals who are loud about #NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek and other things like it. They tend not to actually support people in the ways that are actually most helpful because they can't be loud about the quiet but firm support that is actually most needed.
(Being a good manager is very hard, and I hope people who are managers get proper support and CPD.)

I was remarking yesterday that the worst managers I've ever encountered hid their mediocrity behind effusive support for efforts such as #NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek
The best managers I worked for were instead simply excellent and talented managers who cared deeply about the people who worked for them. They intuitively had a neurodiversity affirmative practice as a manager.
Hope this explains some of my very mixed feelings behind certain types of diversity efforts.

📚 #Books for #Neurodiversity Celebration Week 2023
#NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek is a chance to celebrate a wonderful community through their authors. It is a week-long observance that celebrates the neurodiversity movement. Here are some books by writers in and supporting it.

This #NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek seems like a good time to point out that (per a diagnosis earlier this year) I'm #ActuallyAutistic.

A #WritingCoach (and hey, I am one!) can help #writers who get stuck in their writing journey.
Coaching can include #consultations, #accountability, #WritingExercises, #resources, #editing, and #feedback.
Remember: not every writing coach and writer will work well together and it's important to make sure you've found a good fit.
During #NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek I'd also like to say thanks to my brilliant #neurodivergent clients. I love working together and finding new ways forward. ❤️

Neurodiverse teachers are a rare thing and neurodiverse teachers who are vocal about neurodiversity are even rarer. Taking about your disabilities in our society is very taboo and I’m grateful that there are schools out there willing to listen. #NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek… https://twitter.com/i/web/status/1635761940931788800

#NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek
For this year's #NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek, I'm dedicating time to learning about divergent neurotypes *other* than the divergence I personally have (autism).
To start, I'm reading "The Dyslexic Advantage" by Drs Brock & Fernette Eide which discusses #dyslexia from a perspective of strengths rather than deficits.
If we wish to advocate for neurodivergent people we must include ALL divergent neurotypes.

Never be afraid to ask for help when you need it. We’re all unique on the spectrum, & we have a lot to offer society, & the more awareness we can raise, the better. @Autism is a blessing, not a burden. Be kind to yourself and others #NeurodiversityCelebrationWeek #autismawareness
