🆕 If a video comes with multiple audio tracks like translations into other languages, you can now choose which audio track to use from within the player. You can also select a descriptive audio track by default in case you need it.

Just downloaded #NewPipe from #fdroid and it's pretty much everything I ever wanted from a #YouTube client.

My one nitpick is I want a setting for it to open to the subscriptions feed by default

There's a lot to unpack here. #Copyright law is broken. The #DMCA is constantly abused by IP trolls. And of course, stop using #Google This is what supporting large, centralized tech companies inevitably leads to.

#NewPipe is an incredibly important project and I'm sure Google was more than happy to comply with a DMCA request to remove search results for a project that actively works against their business model.

I believe you are correct about not having the ability to log in. #NewPipe makes a great viewer, but not great for engagement, following channels, etc.

This was inevitable. Google already made it impossible to block #YouTube ads on mobile and Android TV, this was just the next logical step. :thisIsFine:

As for #tilvids we don't have ads, don't know what extensions you have installed, and never will because that's none of anyone's business. Just come over and enjoy some great #edutainment content! And if you need a mobile experience, #newpipe does a pretty good job! 💙

@freezenet I actually don't bother watching Youtube videos on either Youtube's mobile app or on Youtube's website. Instead I use #Newpipe on mobile and either an #Invidious server or #Freetube on a regular computer. I can mostly escape the algorithm, the trackers and the ads.

Agreed, #PeerTube would definitely be well-served by having a good, first-party mobile app. That said, the @joinpeertube team has limited resources, which are already pretty consumed just developing the core server application. Perhaps the community could come together and support somehow?
