#OnThisDay 1929 LNER fireman Benjamin Tough was injured at #Dundee, #Scotland.

Tough went between the tender of his engine & a coach to couple them when he was crushed. His shoulder & ribs were bruised.

#OnThisDay 1905 LNWR goods porter Peter Gordon was injured at #Dublin North Wall, #Ireland.

Gordon was unloading hampers in a truck. After due warning the truck was moved; a hamper fell on him. His right ankle was bruised.

#OnThisDay 1923 LNER engine fitter James Swan, 23, was injured at #Thornton, #Fife, #Scotland.

Adjusting an engine's brake blocks, Swan was crushed when another engine hit his loco - despite the "Not to be Moved" boards he'd used.

#OnThisDay 1937 GWR timber loader Thomas Hall, 29, was injured at #Arthog, #Merionethshire, #Wales.

Hall was lifting timber when the crane began to race; the handle hit his elbow. He might have been distracted by a passing train.

Walking foul of wagons being moved, he was knocked down, falling with his foot across the line.

In our #NewProjectData, there are 28 accidents on July 11, incl:

#OnThisDay 1938, nr #Hampstead station, #London, track worker Cyril Smith collapsed on the electric rail.

He was 'removed without delay to a place of safety, where a doctor gave him medical attention' but he died.

#OnThisDay 1906 porter T Montgomery, 38, was injured at #Katesbridge, County Down.

He uncoupled 3 wagons which ran back c.2 feet. He was attempting to go between them & the train as they closed up, crushing him between the buffers.

Employed by a local contractor, Cameron was loading 1 wagon when a travelling crane movement crushed him between his cart & back of the crane.

Gouick saw some wagons running away down a gradient. He tried to sprag them with a fence post; it swung round & knocked him over the rails; he was run over.
