Tough went between the tender of his engine & a coach to couple them when he was crushed. His shoulder & ribs were bruised.

Gordon was unloading hampers in a truck. After due warning the truck was moved; a hamper fell on him. His right ankle was bruised.

#OnThisDay 1923 LNER engine fitter James Swan, 23, was injured at #Thornton, #Fife, #Scotland.
Adjusting an engine's brake blocks, Swan was crushed when another engine hit his loco - despite the "Not to be Moved" boards he'd used.

Hall was lifting timber when the crane began to race; the handle hit his elbow. He might have been distracted by a passing train.

#OnThisDay 1938, nr #Hampstead station, #London, track worker Cyril Smith collapsed on the electric rail.
He was 'removed without delay to a place of safety, where a doctor gave him medical attention' but he died.

He uncoupled 3 wagons which ran back c.2 feet. He was attempting to go between them & the train as they closed up, crushing him between the buffers.
