So #NextFest is almost over and I didn't manage to play a. single. demo. this time. U_U I really hope that most games keep their stuff up a little longer. One week is just way too short if live gets in the way!

At least it looks like I'll get another chance to check out #ShadowGambit! (Even though there is 0% chance I won't buy this on release 😂)

Well I just played 10 minutes of the Stray Gods demo and I almost cried and I need this game immediately and I have to wait 5 WEEKS?! 😭 #gaming #nextfest

I almost skipped #Dicefolk because I prefer my #roguelike games less cutesy and more weird, but Dicefolk's underlying mathematical machinery of probability + combinatorics proved really seductive. It's a bit lighter than similar roguelikes like #SlayTheSpire, #TaintedGrail, or #SliceAndDice, but still seemed deep enough to be interesting.

Did you enjoy the trading in #MountAndBlade and #NoMansSky but were frustrated by all the other stuff that kept interrupting it? Then I have a game for you! #MerchantOfTheSixKingdoms!
You can trade 1800+ items, but their value is never explicitly stated and always contextual based on who you're bartering with. So there's a real art to figuring which items are valuable and to whom.

I was really impressed by the demo for the #CityBuilder #Laysara. It had all the depth I remember from the classic #Caesar3, but with way less friction. It's really easy to see when buildings are within the required ranges, production chains are easy to understand, and routing resources is simple and clean. The idea of building on separate cliff faces also reduces cognitive load since they're mostly independent.

Ok, my major game gripe of today is this:

If you're going to use nonsense voiceovers in your games, please for the love of god, make it an option to turn it off. Please. It's like fingernails on a chalkboard, and I have to read the dialogue *anyway* because it's not really voice acting, it's just noise.

Just tried out the En Garde! demo on the Steam Deck. This type of game isn't normally in my wheelhouse but the combat feels really good and the graphics are really colorful and pleasant. Definitely going to pick this up when it releases. #SteamDeck #NextFest #VideoGames #Gaming
