Do not think that the book I recommended earlier, Antoine Compagnon: Le démon de la théorie, is dry. It is a mano a mano with Roland Barthes, in the kindest but most radically critical way, in a manner I have never seen or read anywhere. Consider how close the two men were!

There are plenty of memoirs and other types of books by people who knew Susan Sontag. None, to my knowledge, that do what Compagnon does with Barthes.
