Time to leave the hemisphere (with 8 kids in tow) and head to winter. Looking forward to hiking all day and then freezing to death in a tent at night.

Noctilucent clouds are my favourite sky phenomenon, they're said to be quite rare, but I see them multiple times a year, sometime even like this, from the stairwell.

Mars and Jupiter are very clear in the sky tonight. Especially Mars. You can see the orange tint exceptionally well. #NightSky
If you happen to have clear skies on Wednesday night, you'll be able to catch a planet disappearing behind the moon.
The event occurs at a special time for Mars. On Wednesday night, Mars will be directly opposite the sun's position in the sky, rising as the sun sets and setting as the sun rises. This is called an opposition and is when Mars is at its brightest in the night sky.

There are bright white clouds against the dark blue sky with shimmers of stars poking out here and there. It is a very nice night. Years ago, when I was young you could see so, so many stars at night, but over the years light pollution to the extreme eliminated that, mostly. This year, however, I would swear light pollution has gone down a few notches. I don' t have any ideas that might explain it. If all the light pollution went away I would feel it in the pit of my stomach, a physical bliss. Doubtful, but now there are enough visible stars out to flirt with the idea.

My #Moon Phase is the best app for tracking the #lunar calendar. It has a sleek dark design which makes it easy to view information such as the current moon cycle, #moonrise & #moonset times as well as extras such as when the next #FullMoon will be. Do you stargaze??
Got any APPS to recommend?
(I'm going to share a #thread )
#Stargazing is an activity that people of all ages can enjoy and can be done from almost anywhere by following a few simple steps.
Winter is one of the best times of the year to #stargaze due to the longer nights and low humidity, but people can enjoy the #NightSky any time of the year as long as the sky is clear.
(I do it in summer, I hate cold)
