A few others stand out, though, like throwing rice at Dracula's wedding (#DraculaDossier for #NightsBlackAgents), then swooping in—and dismally failing—to stake him as he stooped to count the grains, or reliving my character's bizarre teenage sexual encounters with things from beyond the Veil as part of #TheBetween's mask mechanic.

Why is there identical man-made stuff (buildings / furniture) on the "other side"?

How has this affected human institutions? Who is in on the conspiracy?

Do aliens and other conspiracy staples exist, and how do they interact with this parallel dimension?

Ghosts: infected shifted to the other side along with their microbes at a moment of trauma.

Immortality: microbes may stimulate healing or help retain function despite severe trauma.

Water: free-floating microbes may be washed away, reducing efficacy of "powers", but no major effect.

Counting, blood drinking: microbes trigger various compulsive behaviors when in high concentration. May also trigger EPP (polyphoria). See also "microbiome-brain-gut axis".

Infected have microbes in their blood. Infected interact with a parallel but similar dimension.

Entrancement: low blood pressure in the brain when microbes shift away suddenly.

Mirrors: reflect the other dimension for infected.

Gaseous form: shifting the person across dimension. Sometimes enough remains to be visible as a haze.

Sunlight: microbes are photophobic, and switch dimensions when exposed to bright lights. Includes microscope lamps.

#RPGaDAY2023 Day 24: Simple/Complex. These days, I tend towards the simple, but I'll make an exception for #NightsBlackAgents, which has gazillionty-one extra little bits available to tack onto its neat #GUMSHOE core. As for simple, how about Jason Tocci's #2400 games? Perfect little 3-page wonders.

Looks like I'll be running a pair of alternating-week #TTRPG games for my Houston UU church. I want them to be drop-in, drop-out (attendance flexible).

For the #NightsBlackAgents game, I'm brainstorming what to do with the PCs of absent players. I'd like to have an in-game reason for the PC to be missing or unresponsive.

For ex, maybe victims enter a fugue state where they take no initiative and are highly suggestible.

Any suggestions? Ideas for a vector that causes the condition?

Pardon, how do I measure "smart(est)" #ttrpg? In my opinion, smart solutions depend at least on interests/preferences/requirements and constraints.

#DustDevils uses a #Poker-based engine with smart storytelling twists. The #Preparedness mechanic of #NightsblackAgents is very smart.
The setting and integration of rules of #Earthdawn is smart, if #DnD is a (p)reference. I think the #usagedie concept of some #OSR games is smart etc. etc.

Favorite game you never get to play: As a Forever GM, I almost never get to play any RPG on the tabletop.

Now, there's those TimeWatch and Night's Black Agents mini-campaigns that I keep threatening my players with, but those are more "fun concepts to play around with" at this point.
