Over the last several weeks, in fits and spurts of productivity and inspiration, I've been preparing to give a presentation on Creative Lighting to my local camera club. It's finally happening tonight, and I'll be glad to have it off my plate.
Anyways, here's a setup for a live demonstration that I sorted out the other day.

Took the 400mm lens w/ 2x TC out for a walk today. Not the smallest thing to carry around, but I just wanted to tinker and test. Shot some pictures where you can read license plates a half mile away, which is handy if I ever want to get into P.I work, I guess.
However, unintentionally, I was very successful on my walk. In a random neighborhood creek, I spotted a Great Egret! I only got one good picture of him in flight, but still quite pleased.

Really pleased as to how this moon shot came out. New to trying this #Astrophotography thing, and the sky wasn't the clearest (city life). I'll have to try again tomorrow night with the full moon.
Shot with my Nikon z7ii, using the Nikkor 100-400/4.5-5.6 w/ the 2x Teleconverter. And some crop.

The Celestron smartphone "adapter" (using that term very, very loosely here) has been procured. It's.... fine for what it is. For $20 "name brand" I'd expect it to be a little less painful to deal with, but at least it's made of metal unlike the Chinese knockoff versions.
Tested it against some branches in the middle distance since it's dark and rainy in CA still. It works, not perfectly, but it works. Better than hand-holding the phone to the eyepiece. When there is a clear night I'll experiment with what actually takes the best photo.
Also may have received some fancy new Z-Glass for the Nikon today. Which I'm super excited about using. Not a great shot, but comparison for the Nikon vs Telescope. In this setup... the Nikon windows.

We did a "Friendsgiving" this evening and it gave me a chance to play with my new 40mm F/2 pancake lens for the #NikonZ7II . Also starting to experiment with newer post-processing technology. Still looking at the "best" denoise option (of which there are many). But did run everything through Radiant Photo which does a fairly good job detecting the scene and tuning it accordingly. Other than it likes to turn exposure and brightness up to 11.
Overall, pleased with the results for some quick tests, but I've forgotten how much I hate shooting indoors. 60hz flicker of LED's meant a bunch of terribly shots or shooting at 1/60s.
