@lydiaconwell The difficulty (the necessity, in fact) of freeing a phone depends on the phone’s vendor. The @fsfe hosts a campaign to free your #android: https://fsfe.org/activities/android/android.en.html

Alternatively, one could support a better vendor directly. E.g.:

⚠️ PSA: aside from the marketing claims, "#NitroPhone"s, are probably Google Pixels re-flashed with GrapheneOS and sold at a premium.

Points expressed in the announcement do not differ from other refurbished models, and the "4.5 years" of support are just as provided by Google.
