Will I reread #NonatheNinth from #TheLockedTomb series?

Soooo I finished #HarrowTheNinth last night. Whee! What a trip. As before, immediately bought #NonaTheNinth and diving into that tonight most likely.

tl;dr the worldbuilding for this series suffers the better a look you get at it, but the vibes/characterizations/dialogue/omgwhathappensnext more than make up for it.

I did not expect #earthDay to be a trigger to produce so much delightful #nonaTheNinth material on Tumblr, but fan-people pay attention to these things....

I find criticisms of Nona the Ninth on the grounds that she "has no agency" painful to read.

Nona has physical and cognitive disabilities. We could make a case for autism (see: Harrow the Ninth) and Nona certainly has amnesia re: her own identity. She has very significant support needs, i.e. her independence is limited and requires requires considerable oversight. She is also a political pawn who lives in a warzone.

Lets see if I'll annihilate this book in one day like I almost did with harrow the ninth. And after that i'll porbably reread everything.

Nona the Ninth (2022) von Tamsyn Muir. Die Locked-Tomb-Reihe bleibt erfreulich abwechslungsreich und die etwas weirde aber unbeschwerte Nona stellt einen überraschenden Kontrast zu den morbiden Totenbeschwörerinnen der ersten Bände dar. Weniger verkopft und rätsellastig besticht das Buch durch Warmherzigkeit, mehr Raum für Nebenfiguren, sowie Muirs schriftstellerisches Talent, das aus jeder Seite leuchtet. Wholesome.

Finished re-reading #TheLockedTomb with #NonaTheNinth the other day, and genuinely considering a 3rd re-read now.

Haven't read that one yet, but it's on the short list of things to read once I finish off #NonaTheNinth. Which I went straight into from #HarrowTheNinth.

I'm really impressed with how the author handles the unreliability of the narrators. Especially with how Harrow was entirely 2nd person.

Ianthe got some new glasses for Kiriona for photos to wear when posing for her poster photo. They didn't feel the same. Just made her sadder. 😥

Finished 'Nona the Ninth'. A bit annoyed I'll have to wait another year and a half or two years for the closing of it, but damn, it was time since I was so invested in a book.
