Your voice so smooth
Pulls me awake
From the depths of dreams
The bottom of a lake

Your golden tears
Restore my second sight
Through the groves of dark bramble

She's an important symbol of fertility, sustenance, and the land, and and as large herbivores her children, the aurochs, were an important part of ancient ecosystems. @heathenryan Also, if it's not a living religion with gods who are active in the world and in our lives, whats the point, really? Why would we want to follow gods who stagnated thousands of years ago, but expect us to still do things in ways appropriate for that world, but which have little if any meaning in our current world.

And as the gods interact with the world and with their followers, I think they grow from it and it changes them, which necessitates we be able to change and grow with them. The more they learn and understand, the more they can teach us, which leads to setting some old ways aside and adopting new ones brought about by those changes.

I think I've already gotten a response from Frigg on the Allmother kerning 😀

I mentioned I'd found a devotional for Frigg. It's called "Circle of Frith" by Rev. Marie Durkan and is published by the Troth, one of the largest Heathen organizations in the US. While they're not primarily reconstructionists, their stuff typically has a good foundation in the lore but allows plenty of room for the kind of growth we were talking about.

At any rate, I hadn't started reading the devotional book when we spoke last, and when I did, one of the first things I noticed is that Rev. Durkan, a priestess of Frigg, uses the All-mother kerning a *lot*. It's one of the first bynames she uses and in her section on kernings, its the first I've she discusses. In one place she even notes:

"Just as Odin is the All-Father, Frigg is the All-Mother. In Egil’s Saga, the poet Egill Skallagrimsson refers to the gods collectively as “Frigg’s progeny” (Smiley 2005)."

So, if I was looking for an idea of Frigg's thoughts on the matter, I think I've got my answer. 😆

Hail Sigyn!

Two years ago I initially set up my altar, but as hard as I looked, I could not find a statue for Sigyn. I found statues for the other gods I wanted to honour, but even after spending hours at Etsy (one of the best places I've found for getting altar items) I came up empty. So I got her a wooden bowl, some crystal hearts and a picture.

Today I decided I'd try again to find a statue for her, and I was surprised. There were now 4 or 5 different designs available, and they were all quite nice. Below is the one I ordered.

BTW: If you're looking for a good book on Loki and Sigyn, I just finished reading Lea Svendsen's "Loki and Sigyn" and it's quite good. She offers a lot of insight to both Loki and Sigyn, along with suggested rituals and other practical information for working with them.
