Foodstuffs (via RNZ) North Island are asking everyone in the North Island to only buy what they need so they can get essential stock to cut-off regions.

If people could just buy what they need for 2-3 days at a time, that would help them a lot.

Day 0 - transplant day.

Unbeknownst to us, the #StemCellDonor was flown here to #Christchurch from their home on the #NorthIsland, and donated their cells yesterday, on the same ward as my son; we didn't need to worry about whether the terrible weather #CycloneGabrielle would affect any of this!

So, the donated cells were fresh, and on hand, and in plentiful amounts. Isaac got a 144ml bag of slightly pinkish gloop transfused into him this morning.

My Sony needed to stay packed this morning when I woke up in San Diego, but luckily I did have my phone to take a few snaps of an outrageously gorgeous scene at the harbor. #SantaAna offshore winds made visibility really incredible. If I were staying for more than a couple of days, I would need a humidifier for sure.
