I made a northern soul playlist for a couple of friends' wedding, and another friend started using it as a workout playlist.

And if I was ever inclined to have a workout playlist (please note, this is not at all likely) I'd probably use some classic northern soul too.

This week's #TuneTuesday theme is #ShakeTheDancefloor, and I really could spend all day spamming so, so many songs for this.

But I won't, because a) it would annoy everyone, and b) I'm supposed to be working.

So I'll limit myself to two or three Northern Soul bangers. This one is Stop And You Will Become Aware by Helen Shapiro.

The #TuneTuesday theme is #Songs4BrokenHearts. A lot of scope there for sad, heartfelt songs - and nothing wrong with that - but you can also react to a broken heart with anger, fury, ire.

And I've gone for a seriously angry heartbreak song: What Kind Of Man Are You by Dolores Johnson.

I love how Dolores's voice just EXPLODES as the song goes along. It's magnificent.

More #JukeboxFridayNight: several years ago, a friend asked me to make a soul playlist for his and another friend's wedding. One of the very rare occasions on which I've actually been useful to anyone else in any way.

The first song on that playlist was Watch Your Step by Bobby Parker. This was also one of the first songs that got me into Northern Soul - don't know if it was the actual first, but it was in the first bunch which pulled me in.

This is usually how I end up liking music, one or a few songs show me into a niche.
