No houses in this Amsterdam neighborhood have garages. The main roads have only delivery access without street parking. So I expected to see cars trolling endlessly searching for a space in front of the place we’re staying.

Instead I see a peaceful street with empty parking spaces every time I look. Driving is not prohibited here but there are so many better ways to get around.

Amsterdam has spent 50 years in this effort to humanize their city and the results are magical.

@enby_of_the_apocalypse @futurebird Yeah, there's a @notjustbikes video about it that's generally good at explaining how things are around here.

One of the many reasons why USA/Canada is a wasteland (the other reasons are also mostly explained on the same channel).

(It's not solely about suburbia, but yes homogenous anti-pedestrian suburbs with no allowance for anything other than iso-cubes/identical-houses is a part of it.)
