And it's one of the few songs to contain the phrase 'fine and dandy', which is one of my favourites.

Simpler, a bit eerie, but has the verse with 'chains shall he break/for the slave is our brother/and in his name all oppression shall cease', which appeals to me as a #socialist. And then it pushes on and gets thrilling toward the end.

But I like the original message of the socialist Jesus Christ; the love, the forgiving and the basic decency. The questioning of obscene inequalities of wealth and power. The later twisting of that original message can suck my agnostic fat one.
